Early teens walking hand in hand down a Kentucky dirt road.

Spending a Summer in the small town,

down the street from some General store.

There they sent him from time to time for snuff and cigarettes.

Headed back when Fall began. That Summer his fall began.

He discovered the state of girls in Kentucky and was then content

in every state he was in.  Yet he never wanted to go South nor return North.

How could she walk barefoot on that road he’d never know.

Hurrying back to town for the week long church revival.

Back again, to the house for homemade ice cream and pop.

Dumb as a rock, kissed goodbye that Kentucky girl and General Store.
